Free Wedding Ceremony Locations

For a small weekday wedding there is a wide range of free places you can hold the ceremony. Virtually any public area can be used when there are only a handful of people involved in the wedding. The more popular parks and botanic gardens include designated wedding sites, often with rotundas and power available, which may be booked for two hours. This is advisable and necessary at the weekend or Friday afternoon  However, hundreds of other neighbourhood parks do not have designated wedding sites and can be used without booking. The down side of that is that you cannot move people on if they are already in the space.

To book a Brisbane park attracts a fee. Park bookings in surrounding local council areas may be free, depending on the council.

You could also choose your own backyard, a safe option because, should it rain, you just the ceremony inside. If you are a visitor to Brisbane another option is your hotel room or other space within the hotel. Many local hotel rooms include a balcony.  While hotels that provide wedding reception services usually charge a considerable fee (at least double the cost of the fee for use of a desigated site in a public space) for use of the ceremony area, and that use is often contingent on booking a reception with a minimum catering spend, guests at the hotel who do not require any ceremony space set-up, can usually just gather in the garden or other space for a simple ceremony.
