Confession time: I love a good nerdy wedding for the simple reason that they always reflect the couple's passion about their passion!

Nerdy weddings are a great way to make your special day even more personal and unique. If you and your partner are looking for a fun and creative way to celebrate your shared interests, consider the following nerdy days to consider tying the knot. No matter what your nerdy interest is, there's a way to incorporate it into your wedding.

May 4: May the Force be with you

May the Fourth, also known as Star Wars Day, is a popular choice for Star Wars fans. This day celebrates all things Star Wars, and what better way to celebrate than by getting married? You can incorporate Star Wars elements into your wedding, such as having a light saber arch or serving drinks named after your favorite characters.

May 20: Young Netizens’ Valentine’s Day

‘5.20’ originated from the internet. Like many other internet terms, it is based on pronunciation; the Chinese pronunciation for ‘five two zero’ (wu er ling) sounds like ‘I love you’ (wo ai ni).

The Day after May 20

Recently, people have started celebrating the day after May 20 – 5.21 sounds like ‘I do’ or ‘I am willing.’

July 31: Harry Potter's birthday

Harry Potter's birthday is the perfect day for Potterheads to get married. You can have a Hogwarts-inspired wedding with a sorting hat ceremony, Harry Potter-themed decor, or a wand duel. I've even been known to dress as Professor Minerva McGonagall to officiate.

September 8: Star Trek Day

September 8, the anniversary of the screening of the first episode in 1966, is   the perfect day for a wedding given that Star Trek introduced audiences to a world that championed diversity, inclusion, acceptance, and hope.

September 22: Hobbit Day

For Lord of the Rings fans, September 22nd is Hobbit Day. This day celebrates the birthday of both Bilbo and Frodo Baggins, and is a great day to have a Lord of the Rings-themed wedding.

Non Date-Dependent choices

It's not fair, but not every pop-culture or nerdy interest has its own holiday. But don't let that stop you celebrating your shared nerdy interest
  • Superhero-themed wedding:
If you're a fan of Marvel or DC comics
  • Game of Thrones wedding:
A Westeros-inspired wedding can be a fantastic way to have a mediaeval wedding.
  • Disney-themed wedding:
If you're a fan of Disney movies, consider having a Disney-themed wedding. Either in general, or focused on a specific movie and specific characters, with the two of you dressed as the main characters.
  • Comic book-themed wedding:
If you're a fan of comic books, consider having a comic book-themed wedding. You can decorate your wedding venue with comic book panels and have your guests dress up as their favorite comic book characters. You could even have a comic book artist create a custom comic book cover featuring you and your partner.
I'd love to talk to talk you through your options.
